What to Look for When Choosing a New Orleans Fertility Clinic
Fertility clinics offer different treatments and some specialize in certain areas of assisted reproduction. Some fertility clinics may work with surrogates or egg donors, while others do not. You can find out more information on each fertility clinic in Louisiana, as well as those across the United States, by reading through the Assisted Reproductive Technology Report.
Compiled by the CDC, the ART Report lists data from every fertility clinic in the U.S. Information on this report includes success rates, types of procedures offered, clinic affiliations, and patient diagnoses. Because of the comprehensive overview this report provides, it is an ideal tool for starting fertility clinic research.
Clinic Practitioners
Once you have received an overview on the fertility clinics you are considering, you then can take it to a more personal level. The ART Report offers helpful objective information, but the fertility treatment process is very personal. There are certain characteristics about each fertility clinic that you can miss by relying solely on objective information or success rates.
It is recommended that you schedule a visit with each fertility clinic you are considering. This will give you the opportunity to interact with the fertility clinic staff. Throughout your fertility treatment process, you will be treated by a range of fertility professionals, not only by your fertility doctor.
It is important to choose a fertility clinic where the staff makes time to answer their patients’ questions and treats them with care and respect. Try to gauge the atmosphere of the fertility clinic. Does the staff appear stressed, or do they seem to take time to interact with patients and answer questions?
Geography
Another factor to take into consideration when choosing a fertility clinic is its location from your home. Fertility treatments often require frequent, even daily, appointments. While traveling an hour or two once a month may not seem too inconvenient, it may become a lot more of a hassle to travel that same time daily. Long or difficult commutes can add stress, and may make it difficult to have time for other responsibilities.
