Infertility Insurance Coverage in Washington State
The road to family building through IVF or other assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures can be costly, especially since most procedures require several cycles. Some couples turn to their health insurance to cover their infertility treatments, but many often find that those services are excluded from their plan.
Only 15 states currently require a mandate to cover or offer coverage for infertility treatment. Unfortunately for residents of Seattle, Washington state does not have a state mandate to offer infertility insurance. Certain private plans may offer coverage for infertility treatments, so it is important to check directly with your insurance provider.
A group of Washington residents are pushing for a change in their insurance coverage. Residents interested in voicing their support for requiring an infertility insurance coverage mandate can sign the Washington State Infertility Insurance Mandate petition online.
