Ask Dr. Fertility: What are my chances of getting
ask Dr. Fertility?
What are my chances of getting pregnant with IUI?
Success rates for IUI are based on a number of factors. They include the age of the woman, the quality of the sperm and the infertility diagnosis. Your fertility doctor can determine whether IUI is the right treatment for you.
If I have surgery for endometriosis, what are my chances of getting pregnant?
After the surgery, your surgeon or specialist will help you determine your chances of getting pregnant based on what they found during the surgery. Women with mild endometriosis will have a much better chance of getting pregnant compared to those with severe endometriosis. Your doctor will also help you determine if there are any other factors that may be affecting your fertility besides endometriosis.
Can I get pregnant if I have high FSH?
Because high FSH levels indicate poor egg quality or a diminished number of eggs, the likelihood of pregnancy is diminished. A high FSH level does not mean that you cannot get pregnant. It just means that your chances are decreased. Even if a woman with high FSH does become pregnant, her chances of having a successful pregnancy are also diminished. Also, women with high FSH levels often do not respond well to fertility medication. Therefore, IVF provides a low chance of getting pregnant. One of the options for women with high FSH is the use of donor eggs.
