Relax Your Feet with a Foot Bath

a blog by Anna Pyne, LAc, MSOM, FABORM, Pulling Down the Moon, September 16, 2010
Soaking your feet in warm water for 15 minutes a night is a simple, effective way to de-stress and relax after work. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is quite beneficial to your fertility health as well.
The acupuncture points on the feet and ankles all lie on meridians that correspond to the reproductive system. The warmth of the foot bath will add warm healing energy to those points thereby bringing it, via the meridians, to the reproductive organs. It can also help increase blood circulation to those areas as well, which, in turn, will help the ovaries and uterus work more efficiently.
If you wish to take the foot soak a step further, you can by adding a couple of things.
- Lavender oil is a wonderful calming oil that helps with stress and sleep quality. Adding a few drops of the oil to the foot soak at night is one way of enhancing the benefits of it.
- Another way is to add a simple meditation while your feet are warming in the soak. For the meditation try sitting still with the palms of your hands resting comfortably on your knees, close your eyes, make a smile with your lips, and focus your mind on how the warmth of the foot bath is sending positive energy and blood to nourish your reproductive organs.
