Single Embryo Transfer with Chromosome Screening Superior to Double Embryo Transfer

Findings from a clinical trial examining single embryo transfer (SET) with comprehensive chromosome screening (CCS) indicate increased in vitro fertilization (IVF) success rates compared to traditional double embryo transfer (DET).

Assembly Gives Final OK to Bill Relaxing New Jersey Surrogate Parenting Law

New Jersey's strict surrogate parenting laws, untouched since the 1988 landmark Baby M case, would be relaxed and clarified under a bill that won final passage by the Legislature today. The bill would eliminate the three-day waiting period for parents of children born to surrogates to be listed on their birth certificates.

NJ Bill Allows Women Using Surrogates to Be Named Mother on Birth Certificate

Infertile women who adopt newborns conceived with their husband’s sperm but carried by a surrogate mother could be identified on the birth certificate almost immediately under a bill approved by an Assembly panel Thursday. The measure (A2646) addresses years of legislative silence on the advancements in assisted reproductive technology, which have left the state and intended parents to battle over the issue in court.

Should the U.S. Limit the Number of Children a Sperm Donor Can Father?

In other countries, clinics impose restrictions on the number of children a sperm donor can father. But there's no such limit in the United States. We have only the recommendation of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, which advises against using a particular donor for more than 25 births per population of 800,000.

Comprehensive chromosomal screening to select genetically sound embryos

According to 2004 research published in Fertility and Sterility Journal, more than 50 percent of babies born to couples who underwent IVF were from a multiple pregnancy (twins, triplets or higher).

Richard Scott, scientific director at Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey (RMANJ), with an office in Eatontown, explains why.
