Two of a Kind: Twins on the Rise in Massachusettes

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a study last month tracking the rate of twin births over the last 30 years. The study, which spanned 1980-2009, revealed that one in every 30 babies born in the United States is a twin — a sharp increase from one in every 53 babies in 1980. Massachusetts is one of five states where the rate of twinning has increased more than 100 percent in 30 years.
