More IVF Patients Picking One Embryo

Experts say technological advances over the last decade, plus an increased awareness of the risks of multiple births, have convinced more and more prospective parents to go with single embryo transfer for in vitro fertilization (IVF) in the hopes that the will transform into a child. From 2002 to 2009, the percentage of single-embryo transfers among U.S. women rose from 1 percent to 10 percent, according to an April study from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
