They may undergo useless surgery (such as varicocelectomy on the man, or laser vaporization of endometriosis in the woman) that costs time and money, yet has no scientifically validated benefit. This plethora of inappropriate care, and often frank incompetence, is fostered by a commercialism that has unfortunately aggravated the modern infertility epidemic.
