Fertility doctor John E. Nichols earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1988, where he was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha, a medical honor society, and received the Professor C. Iverson Bryans Jr., “Student Award for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology” and the Merck Manual Award, for students in the top ten percent of the graduating class.

Dr. Nichols completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He then went on to more specialized training in the field of infertility with a two-year fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. During his infertility fellowship, Dr. John Nichols received the prestigious American Society of Reproductive Medicine/Mead Johnson Laboratories Research Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine Award for his work in estrogen expression in breast adipose tissue and its relationship to breast cancer.
