Fertility Clinic Success Rates Don't Tell the Whole Story
With all the fertility clinics in Austin and throughout Texas, it can be tempting to choose a fertility clinic based entirely upon the success rates. While fertility clinic success rates provide helpful information about the fertility clinics, they should not be the only factor taken into consideration.
If you do not read them carefully, fertility clinic success rates can sometimes be misleading. Recently, fertility clinics have become competitive about their success rates, since high success rates tend to reflect favorably upon a clinic. However, in order to keep their success rates high, some fertility clinics will not accept patients with certain diagnoses that may make pregnancy more difficult to achieve, or will not perform certain fertility treatment procedures that tend to have lower success rates.
So how can you gain the clearest picture from the fertility clinic success rates? The ART Report lists the percentages of patients with a number of infertility diagnoses. Look for a fertility clinic that treats a high percentage of patients with your particular diagnosis. Additionally, look carefully at the age group for the success rates. Not only do you want a fertility clinic that has high success rates for women within your age group, but you also want a clinic that performs a good number of IVF cycles for this group. Choosing a fertility clinic that treats women with your diagnosis and your age group may show they have experience treating issues similar to your situation.
