Choosing a Seattle Infertility Clinic
A helpful resource for comparing fertility clinics in Washington is the Assisted Reproductive Technology Report, which is produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This report compares the services and success rates for each fertility clinic in the United States. When looking at the success rates, make sure you look at the total number of IVF cycles performed and the age group for the women. Clinics with high success rates will be most helpful to you if the rates come from those in your same age group with your same diagnosis. You can find Seattle-area fertility clinic success rates here.
A fertility clinic is made up of more than just your fertility doctor. You will be under the care of a team of professionals including nurses, counselors, lab staff, embryologists, and financial advisors.
Because you will have a lot of interaction with this team, it is important you visit each clinic you are considering beforehand. Observe how the staff responds to questions from current patients, and how to overall environment seems. It is important to meet with the fertility doctor as well, so you can ask questions about specializations and treatment philosophies.
It is common to have frequent appointments at the fertility clinic, some as frequent as once a day. Factor in the distance from your home to the clinic when deciding which one to choose. Your fertility treatments may cause a good deal of stress, and dealing with a time-consuming or difficult commute may only serve in adding more tension.
