Indianapolis Infertility Insurance
Fertility treatment costs can add up quickly, especially since more than one course of fertility medications or in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle may be necessary. In order to shoulder some of the costs, couples look to their health insurance plans. However, not all health insurance plans offer infertility insurance, which can make assisted reproduction expensive.
There are only 15 states that have mandates in place that require health insurance companies to either offer infertility insurance coverage or to provide the coverage. This means that 35 states have no such infertility insurance mandate in place. Unfortunately for Indianapolis residents, Indiana is one of the states that does not have an infertility insurance mandate.
However, even though there is no state mandate in place requiring infertility insurance, it is still helpful to talk with an insurance representative before you begin your fertility treatment. Some private insurance plans do offer some coverage for fertility treatments.
Indianapolis residents who are interested in bringing an infertility insurance mandate to the state can sign a petition online or share their concerns with their representatives.
