Infertility Insurance in Nebraska

Insurance 3.jpg

Fertility treatment costs can be substantial, especially since more than one course of fertility drugs or more than one in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle is usually necessary. As a way to help defray some of the cost, some couples look to their insurance companies. However, many insurance plans do not cover fertility treatments.

Currently, there are only 15 states that have mandates in place that require insurance companies to either offer coverage for fertility treatments or to provide that coverage. Unfortunately for Nebraska residents, Nebraska does not have any state mandates in place requiring coverage.

Even though there is no mandated infertility insurance in Nebraska, it is still a good idea to speak with a representative from your insurance plan before you begin your fertility treatments. Some private insurance plans do offer some coverage, so this will help you learn what is covered beforehand so you are not surprised by a big bill later on.
