Paying for Fertility Treatment in Southern New Jersey
The costs of fertility treatment can add up quickly, especially when you consider that you may need more than one cycle or type of treatment.
Expect to pay over $12,000 per IVF cycle, according to estimates from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. But that can vary based on fertility clinic and geographic location.
So how can you pay for these fertility treatment costs? Many patients turn to insurance programs or discount programs to help afford treatment.
Infertility Insurance in New Jersey
Thankfully for Southern New Jersey residents, New Jersey is one of only 15 states that has an infertility insurance mandate in place that requires insurance companies to either provide coverage for fertility treatments or to offer that coverage.
According to this law, insurers in New Jersey must offer coverage for medically-necessary expenses related to infertility. Included under this law are fertility drugs, surgery, IVF, embryo transfer, artificial insemination, GIFT, ZIFT, ICSI, and four completed egg retrievals for a woman in a lifetime of coverage.
Other Ways to Pay for Fertility Treatment
While New Jersey law does require insurance companies to cover some of the cost of infertility treatment, there are often additional costs associated with treatment. In order to pay for these fertility treatment costs, many patients may apply for personal loans or medical credit cards, or others may borrow money from family or friends.
You can also save on IVF costs through the IVFAdvantage discount program. You pay an upfront fee for up to two fresh and two frozen embryo cycles, which can result in savings of 40 percent off the cost of buying each individually! You may be eligible for IVFAdvantage if your fertility doctor recommends IVF and if you are a cash-paying patient.
Also, EggBanxx is a discount program that can help slash the costs associated with egg freezing. You purchase a flat fee for one, two, or three egg freezing cycles, which can save you up to 20 percent off the walk-in prices the fertility clinics would normally charge. The program also includes up to 24 months of storage. You can also apply for financing through one of our loan partners, which would allow you to break up the cost into monthly payments.
