National Eating Disorder Awareness Week
February is home to National Eating Disorder Awareness Week. This is something that is close to my heart as I struggled many years with my weight and unhealthy eating habits. It began with anorexia and eventually I became bulimic which led to multiple other health problems.
While none of my fertility struggles have been linked to my battles with food, I am sure it didn't help. I am now trying to build a nutritious and healthy lifestyle so that when I finally am able to become pregnant, my body will be in the best state possible, for myself and my baby.
Mental health is as important as physical health during your pregnancy. When you bring your baby home from the hospital, you bring them home to a safe environment that they can thrive in. You must look at your body as their first "home" for the duration of your pregnancy.
It was a long an arduous process to become well and not look at food as a foe, but it is well worth everything you have to go through to attain an all over healthy outlook. I am very grateful that I have mine under control and it is one less thing I have to battle through during my infertility journey.
