Vaginal steam baths are used to assist in the cleansing of the uterus in conjunction with the Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy for the treatment of numerous female symptoms.

The formulation of a vaginal steam bath consists of aromatic, cleansing herbs that will penetrate into the uterine wall. The therapeutic effects of thermotherapy and aromatherapy contribute to the effectiveness of this treatment. Overall the bath aids as a uterine lavage or internal cleanse of the membranes that often accumulate incompletely flushed debris/fluids from cycle to cycle. In addition, the bath introduces healing warmth and softens and nourishes internal membranes.

The baths can safely be combined with either natural cycles or any cycle involving assisted reproductive technology such as IUI or IVF. There have been known to help with infertility disorders and other reproductive health conditions.

Consider adding vaginal steam baths to your self-care routine if you experience:

  • Painful periods
  • Dark blood at the beginning or ending of your menstrual cycle
  • Irregular periods
  • Fibroids
  • Cysts
  • Endometriosis
  • Cervical stenosis
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Painful intercourse

Please, do not start having vaginal steam baths without consulting your practitioner. Herbs and frequency would vary depending on your specific conditions.

Julie, Finding someone who performs this therapy is not easy as this is not a common therapy here in the US. Many Maya Abdominal Therapists due perform this but not all. A regular massage therapist will not do this. I would do a google search for vaginal steam bath and the city you live in to see if anyone offers it. We will be making at home kits available soon on our site.

How would you find a practitioner that offers this treatment? Since it is coupled with Mayan Massage would a massage therapist offer them?
