Choosing Single Motherhood
Welcome to my blog! I'm the Choice Mom to two children, ages 10 and 6, and I'm writing this blog to focus on questions, issues and concerns of single women who decide to build a family on their own. Such as: finding sperm, going through miscarriage alone, single parenting realities, misperceptions about this choice, is this fair to the child?, preparing for the journey.
A bit about my background and expertise:
I'm the award-winning author of Choosing Single Motherhood: The Thinking Woman's Guide, for which I won a 2008 Mom's Choice Award. My book regularly ranks in the Top 10 of Amazon's single parenting book category.
I moderate the ChoiceMoms.org website, which features podcasts, blogs, webcasts, articles, books and other resources for the Choice Mom community. I lead the Choice Mom discussion board, with more than 1,200 members, and host events and workshops in U.S. and Canada, with more planned worldwide.
I was a former editor at Time Inc. and The New York Times.
-- The goal of a single parent is not to raise our children alone. The goal is to consciously create the village in which we and our children will thrive.
