Low Budget Fertility

a blog by Tami and Beth of Pulling Down the Moon

If you’re stressed out and want to start your family, but you just can’t afford fertility treatments right now, here is a down and dirty, low budget, highly effective five step program for jump starting your fertility the holistic way:

    1. Have sex … for fun for a change.
There’s always so much pressure in trying to procreate so come on gals, let’s just do it for kicks! Sex is exercise; it boosts immunity, increases blood flow and hormones and can even reduce pain. Hmmm, I think we’ll need another whole blog on this one.

    2. Get an extra hour of sleep each night.
Research shows that lack of sleep can affect hormone balance, mood, and can increase the risk of developing obesity, cardiovascular disease and infection so give yourself permission to take a nap or go to bed early.

    3. Do what your mother said and eat your vegetables, especially the green ones, 3-5 times each week.
Cruciferous vegetables like kale, broccoli and brussel sprouts contain compounds that reduce oxidative stress in the body. Lowering free radicals in the body may reduce the risk of colon, lung, prostate, breast, and other cancers. If you have questions about your diet, consult with a good fertility nutritionist. Pulling Down the Moon has phone consults available for those of you outside of our coverage area ((312) 321-0004).

    4. Do yoga three times each week.
Attend a gentle yoga class or buy a yoga for fertility DVD (like Yoga Practices for Fertility available at You'll increase the blood flow to the reproductive hormones, reduces stress, and feel good about yourself.

    5. Get the oil out and get a fertility or relaxation massage.
Massage increases blood flow, helps reduce stress and can aid in detoxifying the body. Good blood flow can help carry hormones through the body and thicken the uterine lining. If a massage just seems like a guilty pleasure during these tough economic times, buy the oil and ask your honey to give you one (see item #1 one above).

So get going on these five, inexpensive, fertility boosting tips and report back with your findings. Remember, if it’s good for your body, it’s good for your fertility!

Until then…

Be present, be positive, just be,

Tami Quinn
