LeAnn Rimes' Fertility Concerns and Thoughts on Surrogacy or Adoption
a blog by Claire, June 1, 2013
LeAnn Rimes may love life as a stepmother to husband Eddie Cibrian’s two sons, but the singer admits she is hoping to expand the family any day and in any way--not shying away from the idea of fertility treatment or adoption.
Rimes told People magazine: "It took my mom 12 years to have me. I hope I don't have that [issue] but if I do, then a surrogate is something I've thought about," she says. "Eddie and I have also talked about adopting. My capacity to love a child doesn't stop at my own eggs, obviously!"
The couple has reportedly been trying to conceive since December. It is not clear if Rimes’ mother suffered from recurrent pregnancy loss which may be the reason Rimes is considering surrogacy. According to the source, she has begun consulting fertility doctors and taking proactive steps to optimize her fertility. Rimes is realistic about potential risks to her fertility, thus she is also considering adoption.
Rimes and Cibrian have been married for two years after a media centered love affair and divorce from their respective spouses.
