This Time of Year

a blog by lashaundra

It goes without saying, the holidays are an especially hard time of year for many couples who are trying to conceive. Many times it’s not just attending holiday parties where children will be present, or going home for the holidays where you and your spouse are the only family members without children. For some couples, the dreaded month of December means another year has ended and still no baby.

A new year is about to begin and the question, “Will this be the year it finally happens?” overwhelms your mind. Unfortunately, there is no crystal ball that can answer that question.

While trying to conceive for twelve years, I used the end of the year to reflect on the good in my life. Although I didn’t have a baby, I had great family and friends, a wonderful career, a supportive husband, and the cutest, sweetest bulldog.

At the beginning of each year, I’d make a list of things I wanted to accomplish in the upcoming year. The list of things didn’t include getting pregnant because that was a given. I listed new books I wanted to read, new hobbies I want to try, and new places for my husband and I to visit.

Here’s wishing all of you who are TTC a wonderful holiday season.
