Choosing the Gender of Your Child
Do you have a house full of boys and really want a little girl? Are you a known carrier of sex-linked genetic disease? Or perhaps you want to ensure that you have one child of each sex? The methods your mother may have told you to get pregnant with one sex or the other really aren't going help much.
Gender selection is becoming more widely accepted and can help couples who may be interested in family balancing for medical and social reasons.
Currently, the only available and most accurate method of sex selection is preimplantation genetic screening (PGS), which is performed in conjunction with in vitro fertilization (IVF). Click here to read more about sex selection and the existing technology.
While most fertility clinics do provide PGS to IVF patients, whether or not they offer PGS for sex selection varies. Some clinics will perform sex selection to prevent passing on genetic disease but will not provide sex selection for family balancing. Other clinics believe it is entirely the patient's decision and will provide family balancing services. To connect with a fertility clinic that performs sex selection, call our Patient Care Advocates at 1-855-955-BABY (2229) or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
