Fertility Authority’s Blog of the Week: Always, Katie
The blog we’d like to feature this week is Always, Katie
Katie and her husband were eager to become new parents when they began trying to conceive their first child. Shortly after, a ruptured cyst followed by a diagnosis of PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome) would put their dream of parenthood on hold. Various different doctors, moving to a new locations, financial restraints, ruptured cysts, and a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes has added to what was already a complicated situation. After assembling a new and improved medical team Katie is hopeful and ready to pursue treatment again!
Katie’s blog was originally intended to document her parenthood journey. However, she soon realized that not many blogs focused on type 1 diabetics with PCOS that have pursued IVF. Katie wants her readers to have a better understanding of infertility. She explains, “I hope my readers get a real picture of an infertile woman – the frustration, depression, anger, hope, and fear, but also the well-roundedness. I am not just infertile, although some days it seems that way!” Katie’s goal is to encourage women that share a combination of conditions similar to her own.
