Fertility Authority’s Blog of the Week: Shine

Active context: desktop

The blog we’d like to feature this week is Shine.

Katie and her husband decided they wanted to start a family around 2009. What was intended as an innocent annual exam with her OB/GYN uncovered that she had a non-existent period. After trying several rounds of hormonal medications to help “jump start” her period, she was referred to a fertility doctor and was diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome).

In 2010, she finally started getting her period more regularly so they tried several inseminations which all were not successful. Luckily, her first IVF was successful and they now have a little girl.

Like so many of our featured bloggers, she began Shine to share her story, to hopefully help other women going through infertility and not feel so alone. “I hope that as women read my story, they can laugh (and cry) right along with me.” Katie says. She hopes they feel like they have a friend who is side by side with them, going through the journey together.
