Fertility Authority’s Blog of the Week: The Wilson Family; Because Momma Said So

The blog we’d like to feature this week is The Wilson Family; Because Momma Said So.

After throwing out her birth control pills, Kristen was overjoyed to start her family. Unfortunately for her, and many others alike it isn’t always that easy. After visiting her OB/GYN she began to take progesterone, and fertility medication. When that didn’t work she knew that it was time to call a fertility specialist, or reproductive endocrinologist (RE). Her RE determined it was all in her head, literally. Her pituitary gland wasn’t talking to her ovaries. The diagnosis was premature ovarian failure (POF). She immediately began injection cycles and soon after she was blessed with a son but Kristen wasn’t finished yet. After cycling two more times, she was fortunate enough to give birth to a daughter.

Kristen had originally created her blog hoping to document a pregnancy. Instead, it became an outlet for her to discuss her struggles and a place to connect with other women who were trying to conceive. She wants her readers to find hope from her journey, “I also hope that it encourages others to make the call and schedule appointments with an RE. I was so terrified to ‘make the call’, it's like I was finally admitting that I had a problem. Truth be told, my children were worth the wait.”
