Paging Doogie Howser, M.D.
Have you ever had a fertility intern that resembled Doogie Howser? They seem a bit too young and just fresh out of school while they examine your private area.
It’s very common to have a fertility intern examine or meet with you during a fertility appointment, but if you’re uncomfortable, just say so! The fertility appointment can be a very private and personal matter, so try to do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable.
And if you have to find a new fertility doctor or tell the Doogie Howser look-alike to stand in the hallway, so be it! This is YOUR appointment. Make yourself and your partner as comfortable as possible.
“During our first fertility appointment, we met with an intern who looked younger than my kid sister. I felt uncomfortable sharing private information with her, especially when discussing my husband’s semen results!” — Infertile Naomi, from the blog 999 Reasons to Laugh at Infertility
