Taking Charge of Your Fertility in 2013
Happy Fertile New Year!
Looking to make 2013 a BIG year? Here are some questions you must ask yourself to evaluate your fertility and make the necessary changes for getting pregnant in 2013:
- What’s your fertility treatment protocol? Have you done 3 cycles without success? You should talk to your doctor to understand why you are on a specific protocol and where s/he sees this treatment going. If you’re not getting pregnant after 3 cycles, it is time to move on to a new treatment.
- Has your wallet been the reason for sticking with intrauterine insemination (IUI)? Take another look at your insurance plan and ask your fertility clinic about financing options for in vitro fertilization (IVF). You might save money in the long run with one IVF cycle versus multiple IUI cycles.
- Are you feeling uneasy about a treatment plan that doesn't seem to be working, but are afraid to leave your comfort zone? Does something not feel right about the fertility clinic practice, but you’re afraid to “break up” with your fertility doctor? Speak up! You should advocate for your own health and if you’re still not satisfied with the treatment plan, it may be time for a second opinion.
- How are your diet, exercise, and lifestyle habits? Consider a diet and exercise overhaul, quitting smoking, and using bio-friendly products to reduce risks to your fertility.
