What does fat have to do with fertility?
A lot. Especially if you have a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), which is one of the most common causes of infertility.
Women with PCOS are likely to be overweight or obese; however, researchers have still not determined whether obesity causes women to develop PCOS or whether PCOS makes it more likely that women will put on weight. Some studies have found a genetic link between the two conditions.
So while the exact relationship between obesity and PCOS is not clear, one thing is: Losing weight helps improve a woman's chances of conception if she has PCOS.
