Australian Government to Review Laws on Sperm Destruction

The Victorian Government has ordered an independent review of the management of long-term sperm storage issues. Victorian law says the samples must be destroyed after 10 years unless the owner applies for an extension; however the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne is refusing to destroy several batches of frozen sperm and says it has been having trouble contacting some sperm donors who have moved interstate or overseas.
