Awful Experience

Your rating: 15 1
If i could put zero stars for the ratting i would. This is the most unprofessional environment I have ever experienced in my life! Nurses are rude, don't get back with you and you are treated like cattle! No individual attention. We did not end up pregnant after our treatments with Dr.Brown & I will always think if I had gone somewhere else my results may have been different! CHOOSE ANOTHER PRACTICE PLEASE!!!!!

I recommend Dr. Brown's practice. Wait times are long and the nurses don't always call back when they say they will. However, they do know what they are doing. I highly recommend them.

Thank you!

This is Dr. Samuel Brown responding to the 6/19/2015 review. Thank you so much for your support! The entire team here at Brown Fertility really does share a passion for helping couples realize their dreams of parenthood and giving every patient the personal and compassionate care they deserve. We're happy to hear that passion was reflected in your care. Thank you again for your kind words.

Highly Reccomended

If you're looking for a kind, compassionate, professional fertility specialist, I highly recommend Brown Fertility. As a patient, I appreciate their honest, integrity, and compassion. Ask anyone who has dealt with infertility, and they will say the emotional strain it places on them is fatiguing. It is a heavy burden and the professionals at Brown Fertility bear the burden with you. I have never received coldness, apathy, or lack of professional courtesy from any employee at Brown Fertility...in fact, I have received only the opposite. Every person I have interacted with (roughly 10 different staff members) from billing, to reception, from nurses, to aides, etc, have been so incredibly positive, friendly and compassionate. I honestly felt like I was dealing with family. It felt just like a sister or a parent who was really cheering me on and providing me with amazing service and great advice. Sadly, some people rate a health care provider based on the outcome of the procedures. No health care provider can 100% guarantee any procedure because they can not control how an individual's body will function or react. I feel that disappointed patients allow their emotions to fuel their review rather than allowing the actual conduct of the facility determine their review. I can say with 100% assurance, that if my procedures with Brown Fertility prove unsuccessful, I will still recommend them. The success or failure of any procedure does not change the level of care and compassion I have received from every employee associated with Brown Fertility.

I would not recommend this

I would not recommend this practice. My experience has been consistent with the F rating they received on the Better Business Bureaus. My experience with the NP, nurses, and staff was negative. I had issues - like others who reviewed the practice here and elsewhere- with wait time and cleanliness. They use the Batch system for IVFs and don't perform a SA the same day of IUI. Please note that other places in the area don't do that. They don't accept credit/loan lines like carecredit or offer payment plans that facilitate the process and ease the financial stress of this expensive treatment. Other places do... please do more research before you commit your time and money.

I know it's long, but please read.

From the start, this was a terrible experience. My husband and I were referred to Dr.Browns office after finding out the my husband had a seriously low sperm count. Our first visit, a consult, we waited two hours to see Dr Brown. After speaking with Dr Brown, we were told that our only options for getting pregnant would be to do IVF with ICSI. Not knowing any better, we proceeded. After the first IVF, I begna to have severe cramping and bleeding. Scared, I called the office and was put on hold for 20 minutes. After hanging up and calling back I was put through to the nurses voice mail. The following day and a trip to the ER later, I found out I was miscarrying. I understand that these things happen, the fact that I couldnt get through and no one felt it was important to call me back right away upset me. When they did call back I was told pretty much what I all ready knew, they couldnt do anythig for me. However, the break down in care came when I continued to bleed for nine days after. I had tried calling again and left messages again and was never called back. I ended up going to my regular OB/GYN. While there, my husband called and asked for the office manager who was completely rude and explained that they were very busy. At that point my husband spoke with Dr Brown whom seemed indifferent and advised us to set up another cycle of IVF on the spot.... and it continued to get worse from there. We were treated like cattle and had to scrape and scratch to get any kind of communication from his office. We did do an additional cycle of IVF that failed. My issue isnt with the fact that the IVF did not work, its with the fact that my husband's sperm should should HAVE NEVER BEEN USED TO FERTILIZE my eggs without additional medication. Upon discussion with my regular OB/GYN she explained that DR.Brown should have put my husband on medication, such as Clomid, to improve the quality of the sperm. If the quality of the sperm is poor, then the fertilized egg has poor quality also. And even though we had additional fertilized eggs frozen, she went on to suggest that it would be a complete waste of time, money and emotional stress to try IVF with those eggs. I have since been in touch with several other couples who have used DR.Browns office with stories very similar to mine and my husband's. This is such a sensitive and expensive thing to experience. If you use Dr.Browns office, even if the IVF is successful, you will be treated like a number.

Reply from Brown Fertility

We are truly sorry to hear about the delay in communication with our office. We have grown tremendously over the past year and have experienced very high pregnancy success rates. Over the past few months we have hired several more nurses who are extremely dedicated to communicating with patients in a timely manner as they go through IVF cycles. We are confident that this has worked to greatly improve the response time by our clinical staff when a patient has questions.

Unfortunately, the information your Ob/Gyn provided to you about the quality of sperm being improved by a male using Clomid is incorrect. The use of Clomid in men is not an accepted standard of care for the treatment of male factor infertility. Also, please keep in mind that an Ob/Gyn is not a certified infertility specialist and may not have the specialized knowledge regarding the treatment of either female or male infertility.

Again, we are very sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your experience and we have recognized the need for more nursing staff. We believe that we have made positive changes that will provide the best care possible to our patients as we move forward and continue to grow.
