PGS Normal Embryo

We started at SGF and they never recommended IVF with PGS despite 3 previous m/c's. Our first cycle with them resulted in a chem preg so I asked about PGS and RE said I was too young to need it. We moved to Dr. DiMattina at DF and he used an aggressive protocol and despite the dose of meds I only made 6 eggs and only one normal embryo who is my amazing DD. If I had blindly transferred the others I could have had more m/c's!!!

We began our IF journey 5 years ago in India and then moved to the DC area and hoped the biggest clinic in the area could get us results. We did 4 failed cycles at SGF and our RE never changed the protocol. We stayed there because we were in shared risk, and they kept telling us I was young and a good responder so it was just a matter of time. They never recommended genetic testing and just pushed us into cycle after cycle. Luckily, after 4 cycles we got some of our money back, but that's not what we wanted. We went to Dr. DiMattina at DF and he immediately recommended genetic testing on my DH and me prior to doing IVF with genetic testing on the embryos. We did one cycle with a lower dose protocol and we ended up with only 1 out of 6 healthy embryos. That healthy embryo is our amazing baby boy.

Dr. Payson is our hero

There are not enough words to describe how absolutely amazing Dr. Payson is. My husband and I first became patients of Dr. Payson's and Dominion Fertility about a year and a half ago. We came to him after trying to conceive for about 2 years on our own with no success. Our initial impression of Dr. Payson was that he was an extremely intelligent, kind, compassionate doctor whose expertise in the field of fertility was clearly evident. He listened to our concerns and reviewed the test results we already had at the time. Our whole conversation with him we felt like he was talking to us not at us, as it can feel sometimes with doctors. He ordered all the necessary test we needed to get to have a complete understanding of what our specific fertility challenges were. Once all was said and done when we sat back down with him, he explained that he thought IVF was going to be our best, most direct route to achieve our goal of becoming pregnant. He explained that it was possible for us to conceive on our own, but most likely assistance would be needed. For numerous reasons including some bad chronic back issues of mine, we waited another nine months before deciding to move forward with treatment. That first time back in his office he greeted us warmly. Our discussion picked up right where we left it. This is when we decided to move forward. One thing that we liked so much about the consultation process with him was that it never felt like he was pushing us into making a specific decision. He gave us his professional opinion, which is what we were there for, but he let us get to our decision on our own. We specifically did Stimulated IVF with a frozen embryo transfer. This is a lengthy process with a lot of steps involved. While my anxiety about the success of each step was through the roof, the whole Dominion staff was there for me the whole time. The "hand holding" they provided me was probably one of the reasons I made it through this whole process as well as I did. I bet every time Dr. Payson saw me I had the most anxious look on my face. He always calmed my nerves and made me feel so much better. And while he was great at calming my nerves, he never made me feel silly or stupid for one minute. He even used his wonderful sense of humor when appropriate, which made both my husband and I laugh and put us at ease. I specifically was seen for most appointments at the Fair Oaks office. The whole entire staff there from Cindy at reception, to Mary in the finance department, Christina and Lisa who I am convinced are the best nurses ever, to the one and only Dr. Payson made an extremely emotional process as simple as I think it could possibly be. I actually looked forward to every single appointment I had at Fair Oaks. I did also have to go to the Arlington office a few times for monitoring and for my retrieval and transfer. Those experiences were fine as well. Due to all the monitoring appointments I was seen at some point by Dr. Gordon and Dr. DiMattina. They were also just as kind and I felt good after each appointment where I was seen by them. We got pregnant on our first try at IVF. I am now about 8 weeks pregnant and ready to "graduate" back to by regular OB. If I could stay with Dr. Payson the whole time, I would do it in a heartbeat. It is going to be extremely hard to move on from Dr. Payson and the Fair Oaks office. I can't say enough good things about my whole experience with Dr. Payson and Dominion. I have even encouraged friends that are also dealing with fertility issues and other fertility clinics to seek another opinion with Dr. Payson if they are unhappy with the care they are receiving. If and when it is time for my husband and I to have another child and we find ourselves in the same position of not being able to conceive on our own, we will be right back in Dr. Payson's office. Dr. Payson is a wonderful doctor who has made our dreams come true. In fact, he is the best doctor hands down, I have every dealt with. His genuine care for his patients and their needs is crystal clear, and his passion for the whole process you can see every time he does an ultra sound. The best decision my husband and I have ever made was walking into this office. I know 100% we could not be in better hands.

I cannot say enough good things about Dominion Fertility and in particular, Dr. Gordon. Not only is he an expert in the field of infertility, but equally as important, Dr. Gordon was compassionate, honest, and our biggest advocate. One of the things we most appreciated about Dr. Gordon was his patience and supporting our desire to start off with less aggressive forms of treatment. It was clear to my husband and I early on that our comfort levels mattered to Dr. Gordon. While we have had a very positive experience with the entire nursing team, Christina and Lisa were exceptional and literally and figuratively held my hand throughout my entire infertility journey. Their kindness and empathy provided invaluable support. I am fortunate to be nearing the end of the first trimester of pregnancy and have been handed off to my OB. Infertility treatment is an emotionally grueling process but thanks to Dominion Fertility and in particular, Dr. Gordon, we had tremendous support along the way which helped us not want to give up.

Finally a healthy pregnancy

We wasted a lot of time and money at another clinic before finding Dr. DiMattina at Dominion Fertility. He was very aggressive with treatment and recommended PGD so we could decrease the risk of miscarriages. We had our second OB ultrasound and we are officially released to our ob.

Dr. Payson and Dominion are amazing!

In 2010, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. My GYN at the time told me that it would be likely I would never be able to have children because of this condition. The thought that my life would never see motherhood was heartbreaking, and even more so when I married my husband in 2011. At the time of my marriage my mother was dying from lung cancer, and we felt more compelled than ever to try to have a baby before she passed away. Well, she died just two short months after my wedding, and we still had not had any luck conceiving. So, we decided to hold off on getting pregnant for a short time. After about 6 months, I went to my GYN and she put me on Clomid. 6 months of Clomid still didn’t do the trick. Again, we decided that if it was going to happen, it would happen in its own time, but that is a hard resolution to live with. Almost three years passed with no luck. Finally, we came to Dr. Payson. Our very first visit with him we felt reassured and confident that he could help us. He immediately scheduled initial tests to try to determine the source of our infertility. He knew I had PCOS, but he also told us that plenty of women who have POCS are able to have children and that there were ways to treat PCOS that would allow us to conceive. After the initial testing, we came back to see him and he reassured us that everything came back great. Just hearing him tell us that it should not be a problem to get us pregnant, took a huge burden off my shoulders. We immediately began treatment using ovulation induction and timed intercourse. Within one cycle we were pregnant! While I know these results may be uncommon, I also know that Dr. Payson’s knowledge, experience and attention to detail helped us get pregnant. Throughout the entire process, we knew we could count on him for this honest, professional opinion. We knew we could count on him to stay within the confines of our beliefs and speak candidly with us about expectations. We always felt reassured and informed with him. His nurses and staff are so friendly and understanding. They truly make you feel that you are important and that you are not just another patient coming through their door. Dr. Payson and his nurses took the time to explain everything to us and to answer any questions we had. They provided us with lots of information on infertility treatments and what was available to us. I cannot thank Dr. Payson enough for helping us to get pregnant. For so long I thought I was broken until I met Dr. Payson. I felt like I have to resolve myself to not being a mother. That feeling for a woman is probably one of the worst. Thank you, Dr. Payson. We really appreciate your knowledge, honestly, friendliness, and hard work throughout this process, and we know that if we ever need you in the future, we can count on you.

We went to Walter Reed and were in general very disappointed. Especially when they went so far to suggest "egg donor" was our best option because of my age. The natural IVF offered at Dominion led to one false start and then success. Doctor has great empathy, understanding and responsiveness, is never too busy to answer concerns and questions completely and was really attentive to the us through both of our IVF's. I'm 40 and have researched this quite a bit. Doctor Payson is the best! I'm told he's booked until next year.

We were lucky to find such a good doctor who took the time to investigate the reason we couldn't conceive and recommend a treatment plan that worked.
