I wonder how much the outcome impacts our view. Through IVF #1, we now have a beautiful 4 month old boy. It took 4 1/2 years. But because I had to jump through insurance hoops to have IVF be covered. My main doctor was Dr. Souter but they all worked together.

very disappointed

My experience has been disappointing. It takes weeks to get test results unless you call every day asking for them, which I eventually wound up doing. Getting an appointment with a doctor for a current patient takes about 2 months, which certainly prolongs the whole process! I made many calls to the nurse line inquiring about next steps in the donor process, and each time a different nurse would call me back having no knowledge of my situation and no greater clarification. The nurse also said my doctor prefers the "one and done" method, so she usually does IVF. This is very aggressive based on my health and the donor. I do not feel this office takes the time to understand the patient and to keep his/her best interests in mind. I'm switching to a different specialist recommended by a friend.

Dr Souter is an amazing doctor! After many difficult miscarriages we went to see her. She gave us hope and was very supportive. She ran all the necessary tests and today we have a beautiful 1 year old son. I would absolutely go back to Dr Souter and MGH to have a second baby! :-)

Dr Souter is AWFUL

If you consider going here, immediately call Boston IVF which I hear is much better. We made the mistake of not transferring our files thinking things would get better, and a year later all we are getting is more genetic testing and Dr Souter trying to scare the heck out of us with every known genetic disorder in the book. We already have a very healthy 3 year old, mind you. No matter how many times we say we want to get help with timing and other ways to conceive (IUI, etc), Souter continues to push things off and come up with the next thing to scare us. If you call her out she gets defensive and starts acting like we don't care about the health of our future baby. The nurse Pam is also terribly disorganized and has no clue what is going on. No one ever calls to communicate with you or keep you posted on next steps. Dealing with them is a complete and utter nightmare.

This place has turned a time for me in my wife in to hell they screw up everything and got my operation canceled two days before because they don't know how to fill out an insurance app and have delayed it for 2 months for a place that only deals with fertility it's sad that it like talking to a wall. Then I get a call the day of surgery and they didn't communicate to the day op that it was canceled talk about a terrible experience will write. Back in the next couple of months and tell you the next tragedy if I could give them a zero star I would these people make tons of money they should put forth some effort

Bad experience

After unsuccessfully trying to conceive our second baby we visited MGH for help. My rating reflects the following issues: inconsistent pricing by Finance, nurses calling me about my progress only to find out they were speaking to someone else's medical record, Dr. Souter informing me that I only had 4% chance of conceiving on my own and my only option was IVF (knowing it wasn't covered by insurance). Happy to report Dr. Souter was wrong as after leaving the clinic and doing acupuncture for 8 weeks I was pregnant.

Best clinic!

I respectfully disagree with the other reviewer. We have been to another clinic and been at this fertility journey for awhile. MGH Has been nothing short of amazing! Please don't let one unhappy patient, or one interaction discourage you. There are two sides to every story.

Disorganized beyond belief

They do not have it together at all here. They screw up everything with insurance, the finance people are completely incompetent in this department, and they need to be micromanaged to get anything processed. They will tell you you don't need pre auth on something because it is covered and then you will get a bill for $1k. They are a mess. I've never had an experience like this with any other department at MGH. I mean, the fact that they have a 1.5 star overall rating means something... I know MGH has good ratings, but stay away from this clinic there. The nurses are nice, but the doctors are short and rushed. You frequently have no idea what you are there for because they don't answer questions.... seem to be ready to run out the door as soon as they enter the room. They need to shut this dept down.
