Hidden Costs, Shady Billing Practices and Doctor Swapping

Your rating: 15 1
I came to the new Columbia office following my previous doctor who had come out of retirement to help open the practice. I visited the Columbia office for 6 months and never once saw MY doctor. Other doctors would cancel my procedures and cycles (after I'd purchased and injected all the meds) without even coming into the room to meet me or discuss options. So, I've had 6 months of meds, needles, sky-high self-pay invoices and 1 actual IUI that surprise surprise didn't work. There's a never ending list of excuses as to why you always have a balance. I finally told them that I needed a full complete total for my services to bring me to $00.00. They gave me my balance. I confirmed that I would have no other charges and paid the bill. Now, there's a mystery billing from last summer that I'm being harrassed and pressured into paying when no one can seem to tell me what the charge is or when it's from. The answer everyone give is just "well it's a balance brought forward." Frustrating office staff, sketchy billing practices and no access to your doctor make this clinic one of the worst I've experienced. Steer clear and look for other options.

Amazing Doctors & Staff - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Your rating: 55 1
I truly cannot say enough about PREG, Dr. Nichols and all the staff! I have been seeing them for a year and have been through a few cycles, with the last one resulting in my double blessing - I am pregnant with twins! From the moment we went for our initial consultation, to the day we graduated...we had the best experience. Everyone in the office (from front desk, financial office, nurses, doctors, embryologists, lab tech) is caring, compassionate, sensitive and just amazing! They were comforting during disappointments and celebrated with us when we got great news! Every time I called, emailed or went in for an appointment - I felt like so comfortable. Thank you Dr. Nichols, Lindsay and all the wonderful staff at the Greenville office!!

They were great even when were were grumpy. The staff was amazing.

They scheduled our

Your rating: 15 1
They scheduled our appointment then forgot. We had to request time off from work so it was a big deal to us. The receptionist didn't bother explaining what happened. They are incompetent and uncaring.

Communication Lacking

Your rating: 15 1
I would not recommend this place to anyone. The first visit was with Dr. Nicolas. My husband and I literally spent 10-15 minutes in his office. We felt very rushed and that he had other important things to do. We met with the financial rep who stated my insurance would cover the costs. As I started my tests, another doctor (who I never met) completed them. He was very nice but I had no idea and felt as if I was a "number" and not a patient who they wanted to help. Of course after all the tests were complete about 4-5months later, I arrive for another appointment where I was informed my insurance denied everything. They did not take ownership on what was explained to me in the beginning and were not even willing to do a payment plan. I felt tossed aside. I would not recommend them at all.

Horrible Experience

Your rating: 15 1
My husband and I started at PREG on our fertility journey and were very unsatisfied and heartbroken through our experience with them. Dr. Payne had a very uncaring, stuck-up attitude. We ended up at Fertility Center of the Carolinas at GHS. Thanks to Doctors Likes, Miller and Lessey we now have a wonderful son and a daughter on the way. Don't even bother with PREG.

Reply from PREG

We are sorry that your experience at PREG was not exceptional. We are among the highest ratings in online reviews for how well we care for our patients & Dr. Payne is known for his caring heart so this is a very unusual review. We are happy for you & hope that you are doing well.

The staff seem to be ok

Your rating: 25 1
The staff seem to be ok although they didn't follow up with my medical records request until minutes before my appointment was set to begin. They were kind and patient when I asked questions and as I checked in etc. The rating would've been lower if not for them. I saw Dr. Payne and wished I had requested to see the doctor someone I know saw. He was rushing, defensive, and dismissive throughout my visit. I left with just as many if not more concerns. I know doctors and human and maybe he was having a bad day, but it shouldn't have had such a big effect on how he interacted with me. I feel very uncertain about wether or not he will give me his best effort in terms of treatment etc.

Run the other way....

Your rating: 15 1
Only giving them one star because I have to. Poor communication, less than attentive just scratches the surface. Went in for a procedure, they didn't know why we were there. Called the day before another and canceled. Now that we go to another doctor, we learned they didn't address the problems that were in their records. Basically, 9 months of wasted time, money and heartache. Save yourself the pain.

Response from PREG

Dear Robyn & Brian,

We are sorry to hear of your unpleasant experience at PREG. Our doctors primary concern is the overall health of the patient and the safety of procedures performed in an out-patient setting. Sometimes there are circumstances beyond our control that prohibit us from continuing the course of treatment as planned. Again, these decisions are made after careful consideration for the patient’s health. We wish you all the best in your fertility care.

Warmest regards,
Faith Ripley
