Dr Gargiulo is an excellent

Dr Gargiulo is an excellent skilled surgeon with outstanding bedside manner. He is caring and very patient. He skillfully removed 2 large fibroids ( 12 cm; a 7 cm transmural) and 6 smaller ones during 6 hours on October 2017. I tend to forget that I had this surgery done less than 1 month ago since my recovery is so quick after this robotic assisted myomectomy. Dr Gargiulo is the best at this type of surgery. I highly recommend him to my friends in need of robotic surgery. I traveled out of state for all my visits to him and I am so glad that I did. It was the best decision I have ever made to select him as my surgeon after my gynecologist was skeptical that any surgeon could perform a myomectomy instead of a hysterectomy. Please seek a second opinion if your gynecologist only tells you that you can only have a hysterectomy if you are young, want a baby or simply want to keep your uterus.

Dr. Gargiulo on June 14th 2017 removed 7 fibroids through robotic surgery ( 3 of them were 7 cm diameter). Few facts: -4 days later I went back to work -minimal scars. -July 14 2017 I ran half marathon -my belly is finally flat and all my symptoms (constipation and bloating) are gone. The process was smooth and going into surgery was almost like getting into a Spa. Everyone was nice and professional. Pain lasts 3-4 days and it is fully controlled by painkillers (day 1 and 2) and antinflammatory drugs (day 3-4).

Don't wait, See Dr. Gargiuo

Dr. Gargiulo was literally a life saver. He conducted a very difficult robotic surgery to remove my uterus and Fallopian tube because they were nonfunctional and causing me to have bad pain in my pelvis. Dr. Gargiulo had me in and out of the hospital in the same day. Life returned to normal in a few days. His bed-side manner and communication were excellent. You can tell he cares about his patients. If you are having problems with your uterus, Fallopian tubes, etc, please seek his advice!

Infertility

Infertility My husband and I went to see Dr. Gargiulo after several months of trying to get pregnant. Dr. Gargiulo and his staff met with us and reviewed with us our health history as well as outlining a process for how we might proceed. Ultimately, we were patients of Dr. Gargiulo for two years before we succeeded in becoming pregnant. Throughout that period, Dr. Gargiulo and his staff took time to speak with us at length between and at every appointment to discuss the situation and formulate a plan for how to proceed. Every call that we made or question we asked was answered promptly and with great care. In additional to his evident medical expertise, Dr. Gargiulo was kind, compassionate, sympathetic, and supportive. At times, when all seemed without hope, his tempered optimism was exactly what we needed to persevere through a physically and emotionally grueling experience to ultimately be successful. We will be forever grateful to Dr. Gargiulo and his staff for the humanity and compassion that they showed us. He is, in addition to being an exceptional doctor, a wonderful human being. We are very lucky that we were referred to him as he has changed our lives to our great joy. We have two beautiful children!

Highly Recommend Dr. Garjiulo at CRC in Stratham, NH

I didn’t really understand the enormity of what Dr. Garjiulo and the rest of the staff at the Center for Reproductive Care did for my husband and I until I was at my first doctor’s appointment for my daughter and I was checking “Mother” under “Relationship to Patient” below my signature on a big packet of paperwork. They had made our dreams of becoming a mother and father come true! My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for two and half years before seeking help from the experts in the Stratham office. When we did talk about our struggle with primary care physicians, close friends or family we were met with words of encouragement like, “you guys are meant to be parents. It will happen,” or unsolicited advice like, ” Don’t stress about it - stress just makes it worse,” and sometimes, uncomfortable jokes, like, “Well, just keep practicing.” I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling frustration with remarks like these, while simultaneously feeling guilty about that frustration, knowing that if I were in their shoes, I wouldn’t necessarily know what to say either. It’s something so many people don’t talk about. When my husband and I finally decided to book an appointment to meet with Dr. Garjiulo, I was pleasantly surprised by an office full of people who are so compassionate and who always manage to say the right thing. They are so sensitive to the emotional roller coaster that this experience is and I was so grateful for this during our time there. They don’t allow children in their office, knowing this could trigger emotions in their patients. This is the first time I felt like my feelings (that often confused even me) were validated and understood; I didn’t have to apologize to anyone. Once we met with Dr. Garjiulo he assured us that after looking at our files and test results, we could probably get pregnant on our own, but that it might take some time. He never suggested that this was something we just needed to be patient with. He understood our frustration and clearly laid out our options. We were dealing with male factor infertility and he told us that if we decided we just couldn’t wait any longer, he was there and we could do a cycle of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and it would likely be successful. We slept on it, and decided that we had waited long enough and a few months later we started our IVF cycle. This was an emotional time, especially for someone who doesn’t like needles, but I tried to keep the end result in mind. During this process, the nurses and staff at the center are so helpful and available to their patients. My biggest concern about the cycle was making a mistake and ruining my chances of getting pregnant. I couldn't believe they trusted people to administer this medication on their own at home. All my fears were put to rest eventually; I had to trust the process and myself. They offer a session to teach you about the medications before you begin to build your confidence and you can always call the office or on call nurse with questions, which I did a couple of times. Soon enough, the cycle was done and it was time to go to Brigham & Women’s in Boston to extract my eggs and then go back for implantation. I was so grateful to have the Stratham office so close to me for the frequent appointments and blood work throughout the cycle, but to also live in close enough proximity to access hospitals like Brigham & Women’s for the procedures. Dr. Garjiulo works at both locations, so the doctors and nurses you see in Stratham are some of the same doctors and nurses you will see in Boston, which was so comforting. While this is no doubt one of the biggest decisions we had to make, I am so glad we worked with these doctors. The staff was so sensitive to our needs throughout the entire process, from the first meeting to the exit interview. We are forever grateful in the role they played in helping start our family and I would encourage anyone struggling with infertility to end the struggle and start a conversation. Just book your first appointment to meet them and discuss your options. You might be pleasantly surprised at how they can help you, and you won’t be disappointed. The staff is kind, professional, compassionate and in love with what they do. You’re in great hands. Best of luck on your journey.

Dr. Gargiulo and his staff over in the Exeter NH office were all so very helpful and professional in all my needs. All the nurses were like family as we spoke over the phone almost every day and when I would have to go into the office which was quite often, they were all so very kind. Dr. Gargiulo did my first IVF and yay it worked on the first try. I mark my 12 weeks today. Can’t wait until the next 28 weeks or so to meet our bundle of joy that without Dr. Gargiulo’s help seem like a long wait.

Single-site robotic myomectomy

Your rating: 55 1
I recently had a single-site robotic laparoscopic myomectomy procedure with Dr Gargiulo at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. I would like to share my experience for the benefit of anyone considering seeking advice or treatment for a similar condition. I was referred to Dr Gargiulo by my local gynaecologist after an ultrasound showed I had several fibroids which were giving my some symptoms. My main concern, however, was that my fertility might be affected. My gynaecologist suggested that I should be consulted by the 'Centre for Infertility and Reproductive Surgery’ at BWH as she was able to offer myomectomy only by open surgery which she thought might negatively affect my fertility. I am grateful for this decision. I arrived at the clinic feeling slightly apprehensive after rather a mixed bag of medical experiences in the US (I am not a native!). To give a little background, I am a scientist by trade and perhaps because of this I do not feel comfortable with any undertaking any procedure unless fully armed with facts. Upon arrival at my first consultation I was sat in the waiting room and given a recent journal article authored by Dr Gargiulo (music to my ears). So I arrived in Dr Garguilo’s office already feeling knowledgeable and could ask more detailed questions straight away. I left feeling fully informed went for further tests (MRI) which led to me having the myomectomy procedure to remove 2 fibroids (3 cm and 6 cm plus a smaller one). I cannot stress enough how impressed I was with the care I received at BWH on the day of surgery. The prospect of any complex surgical procedure is a little daunting but I honestly felt that the doctors. nursing staff, anaesthesiologists etc. could not have done more to keep me comfortable and at ease and I really do believe that this was a major factor in my speedy recovery. Speaking of which I was prepared for post-operative soreness and tiredness but actually I was back on my feet remarkably quickly. I only needed the narcotics for a day or so and then just used regular painkillers for another week. Within a few days I was walking around with no problems (I made a train journey by myself after 3 days!) and after 2 weeks I was pretty much back to normal with just some minor soreness around the incision site on my belly button. I had very little pelvic pain and have had none since. I am not an expert but I am fairly sure that the surgical skill of Dr Gargiulo was a major reason for lack of post-operative pain or complications. The fact that I was a candidate for the single site procedure (pioneered by BWH) was another significant factor. The follow-up appointments were equally as thorough and I walked away feeling like a huge burden had been lifted. I would urge anyone who is concerned about fibroids or already considering myomectomy to arrange a consultation at the Centre for Infertility and Reproductive Surgery at BWH.

Enormous fibroid, gone!

I had an enormous fibroid in my uterus. Other doctors were reluctant to try and get it out via robotic surgery. They thought there is a good chance that they'll have to switch to open surgery in the middle of the surgery. But Dr. Gargiulo told me that has done this surgery with such big fibroids many times before and had never had to switch to open surgery. He also told me he would most likely be able to repair the damage to my uterus, something that the other doctors were not quite sure about. In fact (and unfortunately) some doctors just recommend taking out the uterus, with cases of fibroid of this size. Mine was 17cm x 14cm x 12cm. I'm glad to say the surgery went well. I was home the same day. The first couple of days it was hard to get around the house but in less than a week I out and about (although a bit slowly). I was running and biking in less than a month.

I would highly recommend Dr. Gargiulo. He is very compassionate, skillful, and smart. 4 Weeks ago he removed a 8cm fibroid via robotic myomectomy. The recovery was quick, and I was back on my feet before I knew it. I opted for the cosmetic surgery, and I am confident that the scars will be almost invisible within a few months. I urge all women considering this surgery to see Dr. Garguilo.

Laparoscopic myomectomy to remove 7 cm fibroid

About 4 weeks ago Dr. Gargiulo performed my laparoscopic myomectomy. I was very nervous going into this surgery because I had never had a major surgery prior to this. He was very informative and answered any questions I had. A major concern was whether or not I would still be able to have children because that's very important to me. He reassured me that everything within my uterus would be repaired once the fibroid was removed and that I would still be able to have children. My incisions were very small and even though only four weeks have passed, I'm so happy with how they're healing. I'm so glad I was fortunate to have him as my surgeon.

Fabulous Surgeon!

Dr. Gargiulo was extremely knowledgeable, kind and professional. I was referred to him over the summer when I was diagnosed with a 12cm fibroid. Dr. Gargiulo walked me through the entire procedure and reassured me that my fertility would remain intact. On the day of my surgery I was completely comfortable with my surgical team, and I will say that my recovery was extremely fast and surprisingly comfortable. Dr. Gargiulo made 4 small incisions, removed the fibroid, and I was on my way to recovery!

So pleased with the results of a myomectomy

I was referred to Dr. Gargiulo after my two fibroid s were becoming a nuisance every day, (for example, one seemed to be directly above my bladder which made exercising difficult) I knew I had a long family history of fibroid s causing a quiet havoc. My mom had a hysterectomy at age 48 because of fibroids. I knew that I could probably look into having a hysterectomy at age 50, but I really did not want to go that route. I was so happy to hear that the fibroids could be removed laproscopically and talked over my options with Dr. Gargiulo at length over 2 or 3 meetings before the surgery. I never felt like he was trying to sway me one way or another into "just having the hysterectomy". Before surgery, blood tests and lab work were thoroughly completed and analyzed. I opted for a myomectomy in order to save my uterus and couldn't be happier. I feel like I recovered easily in 2 weeks and was back to work and doing normal household chores, with the exception of lifting anything very heavy. Before the surgery, my physician told me it was like I had a "pregnant uterus" and that everything was being pushed up. I was honestly more worried about all of the heartburn that I was probably experiencing because of this, and was more worried about esophageal cancer than uterine cancer. I knew I had fibroid s for at least 16 years when my children were born and was told they were rather large at that time. This was the perfect choice for me and I am so pleased with the "new space" I have again. Know there is hope of saving your uterus if you do have fibroid s and would prefer to forego a whole hysterectomy. Dr. Gargiulo & the fine staff in Stratham, NH are the kindest healthcare office I have ever been in. I will actually miss them! Many thanks Dr. G!

Uterine Fibroid

It will be 3 months since my surgery and I feel great! After years of dealing with unpleasant fibroid symptoms, like heavy bleeding and constant bloating, I already notice a difference. I am thrilled that I made the right decision to take the robotic-laparoscopic approach – it is life-changing. I am grateful to Dr. Antonio Garguilo and his staff at Brigham and Women's Hospital and in Exeter, NH. They made me feel like I was their only patient. They took such good care of me. Dr. Garguilo has a gentle and calm way about him that made me feel safe and protected immediately. He is the best of the best!

Robot assisted myomectomy was fantastic!

Dr. Gargiulo was so wonderful when he took care of me for my fibroids. I had large fibroids but wanted to maintain my ability to have children, so I opted for the robotic assisted laparoscopic myomectomy. What a great decision! Dr. Gargiulo was so kind, understanding, patient, and thorough in his care, right from the beginning all the way through to my postop visits. He must be a fantastic surgeon because I had hardly any pain after the procedure, and only a belly button scar. I was up and walking right after surgery. A friend who had had myomectomy by a different technique, couldn't believe how well I was doing just 2 weeks after surgery. And when my referring doctor saw me at work 4 weeks after surgery, he was amazed! Everyone who needs fibroid surgery should have this if they can. The team at Brigham and Women's hospital was fantastic and as an international patient, the entire process was very smooth.

I urge all women to get

I urge all women to get more than one opinion when your reproductive health is at stake. Do not settle for a doctor telling you that you have to have a hysterectomy when you really don't want one. Almost, three weeks ago Dr. Gargiulo performed my robotic assisted laproscopic myomectomy. At my initial appointment he was very thorough and pleasantly addressed all of my questions and concerns. His bedside manner is extraordinary( And I am very critical being an OR nurse). He truly displays what true medicine is all about!!! He exudes confidence in his knowledge, ability and skill. And he will take the extra time to deal with any specific circumstances that you may have in order for you to have a safe and successful surgery. He is able to gain your trust very quickly. If you have a difficult case, Dr Gargiulo is the surgeon you need! Thank you Dr. G for all of your help. May God continuously bless you so that you may be able to help so many.

Three weeks ago Dr. Gargiulo performed my robotic myomectomy. I would highly recommend him as he is a skilled and compassionate doctor. His knowledge, commitment to medical advancements and his bedside manner all contribute to the trust that he instills in his patients. I recommend that all women get second or even third and fourth opinions when it comes to reproductive health. I traveled out of state to see to three experts and am very happy that I'm sitting here typing with my uterus intact. Thanks Dr. G.
