I am a 26 year old female and a friend referred me to Dr. Marut because I was having abnormal visits from Aunt Rose which I suspected stemmed from imbalanced hormones. I am not by any means his typical patient and made sure to be very clear of this before my first visit especially because I was not seeking fertility treatment of any kind. Dr. Marut felt that the necessary course of action was to change birth control. In doing so, I started to experience anger, restlessness, anxiety, sadness - overall, I felt completely out of control. We switched pills again. And again. And each time my symptoms became more severe. When I expressed my concerns Dr. Marut and his nurse Jennifer Brown pushed them aside. I had been asked back several time to conduct blood work. After a year and 4-5 different birth controls, I finally decided to go see my PCP. It turns out, Dr. Marut was increasing the amount of progesterone in by birth control every time which is known to cause PMS-like symptoms. In the course of my conversation with my PCP, I mentioned a test the Dr. Marut conducted (which I felt was medically unnecessary) that ended up costing me over $125 out of pocket. This test was for high risk HPV and only recommended for those over 35 years of age and/or for those who have had abnormal pap smears or showing signs for cervical cancer. Just to be clear, I have had all of my vaccines and have never had an abnormal pap smear. Why he felt the need to run this test is still beyond me. When questioned, FCI informed me that "Dr. Marut does this test for all his patients." Well, I thought I made it very clear to him that I was not his typical patient. This test has been confirmed as medically unnecessary given my individual circumstances which should have been evaluated prior. Overall - uncaring, unaccommodating, impersonal. Not someone I would recommend.
