I work in healthcare and can say that the mind-body program offered for free at Brown Fertility is one of the most caring and compassionate things I’ve seen. Their holistic approach to infertility is really outstanding. While some other places can make you feel like another number at Brown Fertility they really make you feel like family. The therapy program helps you cope with the mental toll infertility can bring; the spa helps you relax throughout the process, etc… Join that with top notch medical care and it explains why they have one of the highest pregnancy rates in the country.

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!

DO NOT GET CHARMED BY THE SWEET TALK ABOUT HOW THEY ARE THE BEST. READ EACH LINE ITEM ON THEIR COST SHEET AND GET ANOTHER OPINION. IF YOU DECIDE TO LEAVE THEIR PRACTICE, THEY WILL NOT RELEASE YOUR EMBRYOS WITHOUT A HEFTY PENALTY. WE FELT LIKE THEY WERE HOLDING OUR EMBRYOS HOSTAGE FOR RANSOM. WE'VE ASKED AROUND AND FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT INDUSTRY PRACTICE AND THINK THAT THIS IS A TACTIC TO KEEP YOUR BUSINESS. The whole journey of having a child has been a difficult one for us, only made so much worse by Brown Fertility. As many have already mentioned, this has been one of the worst experience my wife and I have had to deal with. I do not write this review because we've been unsuccessful after around 3 years dealing with this practice, 2 retrievals, 1 fresh IVF cycle, 3 Frozen Embryo Transfers and thousands spent, including paying out of pocket to have our embryos tested to make sure we transfer normal embryos. I am writing this because despite all of that, what makes a bad result worst is the way this clinic treated us. About 3 years ago, my wife and I decided that we needed help from an infertility doctor to better our odds in conceiving. First mistake was we based our decision to go with Brown Fertility only on someone's recommendation. Our first consultation with Dr. Brown started out really well. It was short but promising and he comes off as someone who wants to help. Well, that was the longest meeting we've had with Dr. Brown. We've probably met him a total of 5 minutes the following 3 years (basically, only at transfer day). The real issues started after the first failure. The way they tell you that you're unsuccessful is so impersonal. In one of our failed attempts, we asked to speak with Dr. Brown to ask what else we could’ve done to increase our chances. He spent a whole 20 seconds with us, told us, there's nothing else that could've been done as the embryos were likely abnormal, then charged us for the visit. Anyway, this was what prompted us to pay almost $2k out of pocket to get our embryos genetically tested and only transfer the normal ones. Then came the billing and insurance issues. At some point, we informed Dr. Brown's office that we changed insurance carriers. Some of the claims were mistakenly getting denied by our insurance and we were left to deal with the insurance with little to no help from the clinic even though we do not understand most of what they are claiming for. At some point I discovered major billing issues when we received a bill from Brown Fertility for around $1,200 (I think). After going through all the claims and itemized billing, it turned out that they actually owed us over $3,750. In fact, they've been holding this money and just deducting from it every time they get denied a claim without informing us. We finally decided to take our business elsewhere after yet another unsuccessful try. We consulted with our new doctor and already spent more time with him in one meeting than with Dr Brown over the 3 years. We also learned more about what options are out there to increase our chances of success (non of which were mentioned by Dr. Brown). When we called to schedule to tranfer our embryos was when found out about the hefty penalty. They do not point that out when you sign the paperwork. I've asked a few fertility facilities and was told that this is not industry practice. I asked to speak to Dr Brown directly so I can make a case to have the fee waived and was told that they will not let me speak to him about this. After all the wasted time, all the emotional stress, the bad advise, and thousands of dollars spent, you would at least think that they would reconsider. Do yourself a favor. Go look elsewhere for your infertility needs. To this clinic, you are just a number and dollar signs.

This is not just another birth announcement it's a testimony. For, I know how it feels to love and wait. I've cried so many nights. I' ve fought to maintain my sanity for so long as I desired to become a mother. I felt alone, though I had a few people around me pushing me to fulfill my purpose in life. I've prayed for 1,816 days (with and I'll admit sometimes without faith). But, God had a plan. Although it was different from mine I'm glad he designed it just for me. So today, I humbly announce that my husband and I witnessed the gift of life together. I delivered healthy fraternal twins in February! To the ladies in waiting: I want you to know that I'll never forget the experience of living with a weak heart. But, know that God will strengthen it if you demonstrate the courage to keep fighting. HE will take care of you according to his perfect plan... Brown Fertility is great! Dr. Brown told me during our consultation that I WILL get pregnant and I DID. There were obstacles (miscarriage) and negative results but we were persistent. Like all companies there will be a few bad apples. Some of the staff can be a bit unprofessional at times but you canNOT let one bad apple spoil the bunch. Dr. Brown is an angel who creates miracles daily! I know...I have TWO bouncy boys! My aunt this recommended this practice and I traveled from Georgia faithfully to witness it's fruits. I believe in miracles.

please find another practice!

Save yourself the stress and frustration of this clinic. You will waste all of your money to be a part of this cattle call. Each case is lumped together even though every woman had a different cycle/body. The staff with a couple of exceptions is completely lacking empathy and compassion. You rarely see the doctor himself and when you do it's only for a minute or two. If you want to ask questions, you have to pay for an appointment (even if it's a post consult for failed IVF). Charlotte and Patty are the absolute worst. Please save yourself the headache and look elsewhere for treatment.

Highly Recommend

I had a wonderful experience with Dr.Brown's Jacksonville offices. The staff was always very kind. It is an expensive process- but it is going to be that way anywhere. Stick with the treatments and it will be totally worth it!

Customer service and patient care is horrific. They do not return phone calls. They do not return emails. You will never see a real doctor. I am certain they are engaging in fraudulent billing by having the nurse do all the work when the doctor is clearly not supervising or in the office suite as required by law. They do not run adequate benefits checks. Patti in the billing office is rude and incompetent. Julius, the office manager, is even more rude, incompetent, and dishonest. They do not run benefits correctly. They had no problem demanding my money up front, even though I knew the services were covered. They owed me over 1,000 before they admitted they made an error. I have now been waiting over a month for a refund, and they still have not returned my money and claim that it is "a process that goes through the outside corporate office that takes a few weeks." Do you research and find another practice that actually cares about their patients.

I would not recommend this

I would not recommend this practice. My experience with the NP, nurses, and staff was negative. I had issues - like others who reviewed the practice here and elsewhere- with wait time and cleanliness. They use the Batch system for IVFs and don't perform a SA the same day of IUI. Please note that other places in the area don't do that. Although they provide financing for IVF like other practices, they don't accept credit/loan lines like carecredit or offer payment plans that facilitate the process and ease the financial stress of this expensive treatment. Other places do... please do more research before you commit your time and money.
