What Happens During A Fertility Consultation And Fertility Workup?
For an initial consultation, a patient would need to provide the physician with their fertility history, such as the amount of months they have been trying to conceive, previous diagnosis or complications. Additional testing such as an ultrasound and blood work may be done at the initial consultation, but may be done later on as well. Diagnostic testing is key to assessing the function of the ovaries and reproductive system, explains Dr. Mary Ellen Pavone, reproductive endocrinologist at Northwestern Medicine, from Boston University School of Medicine.
